Although we love our city all year round, it's hard to imagine a better time to explore Halifax than the height of summer. Beaches, beautiful green spaces and way too many patios to choose from (if that's possible): what's not to love? So, when Kiehl's asked us to go on a mission to share our favourite part of the city to celebrate the grand opening of their first Atlantic Canada store, what do you think our answer was?
First on our list was the Halifax Public Gardens. This place is an every day oasis in the middle of the city, complete with victorian fountains, lush trees and the cutest ducklings you'll find anywhere. Oh and this sweet house? It gets even sweeter when you go in for some hand paddled ice cream.
We should back up a minute to mention that we didn't take off on this whirlwind tour of Halifax alone. We had company, in the form of Mr. Bones, the classic Kiehl's mascot. Mr. Bones tried all the best Halifax had to offer, like these local oysters from Lot 6.
Even if you're not as much of a fan of oysters as Mr. Bones, we definitely recommend visiting Lot 6 for its beautiful atrium- just look at this. Oh, and the cocktails aren't too shabby either.
After a few more stops downtown, we brought things back to our neighbourhood and stopped at EnVie, where you'll find amazing vegan cuisine and the most delicious juices and a cozy nook to enjoy it all in.
Fully refuelled on some delicious beet juice, we found our way to this familiar sight. This place is on a million postcards for a reason, it is just crazy beautiful. It's not the first time we've photographed the Peggy's Cove Lighthouse, but we never get tired of it.
There's only one thing to do on a summer night after a long day in Halifax. You guessed it: find a nation. Options are pretty much limitless, but it's hard to beat enjoying an ice cold drink with a view of the water, so we stopped by The Stubborn Goat Beer Garden.
Our list of favourite Halifax places could go on and on (and on and on and on), I mean just look at that city, but our deadlines got the best of us and we had to pack it up to go home and edit. Getting work done is a lot easier though, knowing we have all this and more to enjoy in our backyard whenever we want.
