It feels like I'm always saying this, but we've been super crazy busy yet again. Even so, we haven't forgotten about our blogger sessions series and picking up with Lesley from Blare June was the perfect way to get back into the swing of things- just look at that smile, can you imagine not having fun with this lady?
Lesley was a dream to photograph, not that we were surprised. Reading Blare June feels like having a talk with your bff, a bff who just happens to have perfect style advice and insight into health and well-being, at that. In person we got the same vibe. Our studio chat was spenttalking about the glorious return of 90s fashion, our fave local restaurants, dream travel destinations (helllllllllo Iceland) and the challenges of super long workdays and about a million other things in between. We also got a lesson on Lesley's favourite moves in front of the camera and coached her on staring down the camera (she didn't need much help). Needless to say time flew by.
Lesley is no stranger to having her photo taken- a quick peek at her blog will prove that. One thing we love about the Blare June blog is its consistent and cohesive visual identity. Nothing ever looks out of place and we know that a lot of work goes into making sure all Blare June photo content fits in. With her session we wanted to stay true to the simple, bright and beautiful content that makes its way onto Blare June while still switching things up a bit.
A studio setting seemed like a natural fit for Lesley, and to be honest, we've been looking for the right excuse to do some studio portraits. While we love all the event photography and location sessions we've been doing, we started out learning about portraiture in the studio and we miss getting to do this style of work. On the flip side, we still wanted to have a location feel to fit in with the rest of our blogger sessions, so we stopped by NSCAD port campus. As former students we have to say we miss having access to this beautiful campus with perfect natural light, simple interiors and the best ocean view.
