Even over the holidays, we sometimes find it hard to put our cameras down. Although most people were busy with all that comes with the holiday season, we knew it was the perfect opportunity for us to photograph Kaylee Giffin AKA The Blondielocks, for our series of blogger portraits. So while everyone else was doing their holiday thing, we bundled up and hit the road to Crystal Crescent Beach. Once again the elements were against us (will we ever learn?), with wind, snow and intense cold, but we think that as usual these photos were worth the adventure.
Although this was our first time meeting Kaylee, we felt like we were old friends. We've been following Kaylee's lifestyle blog for a while now, so it was no surprise to find out that Kaylee is friendly, funny and approachable. She also braved the cold in the perfect casual winter outfit she styled, which we totally wouldn't have done. Although the look focused on cozy, chunky knits and easy going sweats, a down parka would probably have been a more comfortable fit for the December weather, but Kaylee didn't complain once.
Most of The Blondielocks content comes out of Toronto, where Kaylee has taken up residence. Even so, we felt that it was fair to include Kaylee in our series of local bloggers. A true Nova Scotian at heart, Kaylee comes home every summer and winter. In styling her outfit, Kaylee also shopped local, which we always appreciate. Her beautiful scarf and cardigan were picked up at Make New, a curated thrift shop in our very own north end.
We've only shared a handful of or favourite photos from this session, but you can see more on Kaylee's own post, Sea Side Snow. Shot on December 28, these last two portraits squeaked right in at the end of 2015, and might just be a couple of our favourite photos of the past year. After this session we're even more excited to continue with our series of local bloggers and can't wait to share what's next.
